CASE CLOSED (Finishing our CSI case)

Today we solved the crime on who stole our HDMI cable and 18 milky ways!
Who-We asked Mrs  Taffee to come in to class so that we could show her the final evidence, After we had finished she asked if she could admit to something that she did, we told her she could so she told us the whole story on how she got in and she explained everything that happened that day to us.
What-Mrs Taffee told us that she only meant to borrow the HDMI cable because she had been having some trouble with her chrome casting but when she walked in to Whetu she saw some milky way chocolates and she decided to take a few because she thought that no one would know because it was the school holidays but she ended up braking a few things so she tried to run out of the door but it wouldn't open so she ended up braking the window and cutting her right wrist on the door frame, she ran straight out of Whetu and all the way to the office before stopping at the bushes by the Mapson maze to check if the door closed.
Where-The crime happened at Ngatea Primary school in our class team Whetu.
When-From what we know the crime happened on the 10th of October, it was a Saturday and the crime happened from times between 12:00 all the way to 12:58.
Why-Mrs Taffee says that she didn't mean to brake anything or steal any milky ways at all and that she only went in there to borrow our HDMI cord but I'm not sure if she was telling the truth.
How-We formed a number of pieces of evidence to prove that Mrs Taffee was the criminal and our evidence includes,
-Her finger prints where all over the crime scene
-She was at the crime scene on the day of the crime
-She had a cut on her right wrist
-Her shoe prints matched
-She needs and HDMI cord and uses one regularly
and a few more things.
Here are some photos of the crime scene and some more.

GRAMMAR COP(Jack and Jill)

This week we did a Grammar Cop work sheet.

It was about Jill wanting to write a story about what actually happens when Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.
The instructions were to help Jill fill in the blanks with He or Him because Jill didn't know the difference between the 2.

I think that this activity was super duper fun and I really want to see what next weeks grammar cop sheet will be!

Here is my sheet.

LETTER OF THE WEEK (R)

This week we I did letter of the week.
This weeks letter was R and I think that it was really, really fun.

The easiest part for me would have to be writing the sentence for sure because the sentence doesn't always have to make sense and you can just have some fun with it and my sentence was "Rotten Rachel reeks of relish".

I think that the hardest part was coming up/finding a common noun because when I would search for common nouns it would only come up with the difference between proper nouns and common nouns which wasn't very helpful because I already know the difference.

Overall I think that this was a very fun activity and I cant wait to do next weeks letter!
This is my finished product.

ATHLETICS(November the 3rd)

 Yesterday we had school Athletics.
My favourite event was Long jump because I think that I did the best in that event and I had the most fun.
My least favourite event was the 200 meter sprint because my legs really, really hurt right after and through out the race because the night before I had a sore knee and then because of all of the other events that I did before the 200 meters my ankles hurt a lot.

Overall I think that Athletics was A lot of fun and although I felt really nervous through out the whole day I still had a great time.

FINGERPRINTS(Lifting fingerprints)

Today we have been lifting our fingerprints.
First We had to rub our thumb on our hair so that it would get greasy and then wed put the print on the window, then we had been given a brush that had some normal cornstarch on it and we lightly rubbed the powder on top of the fingerprints and then we got a piece of tape from Mrs Kennedy and we lifted the prints of the window and then so that we could see the prints we put them on some black paper and then we wrote our names on them and we were finished.
This is my piece of paper.

WHETU CRIME(Finger prints)

This week we have been learning about our finger prints and I have learned that there are 3 different main types of finger prints. The Loop, The Whorl and the Arch there are also different types of these finger prints like the accidental loop, The Double loop and the peek arch.
An arch is a finger print where the lines start from one side and trail to the other.
A loop is a finger print that starts on one side of the finger and loops back around to end on the same side that it started on.
A whorl is a finger print where the lines start in the middle and whorl around and around until it hits the edges of you finger.
I had 2 Arches, 3 Loops and 5 whorls.
I have really enjoyed doing this finger printing task and I thought it was really, really fun to identify all of my finger prints.
Over all I think that this activity was a blast and I would DEFINITELY do it again.
This is my sheet and a close up on a few of my finger prints.

WHETU CRIME SCENE (2020)

Yesterday was the first day of term 4, the last term of the school year until 2021.
It was a big shock to all of us waking in to class and seeing so much police tape all over the place. once we where all in class Mrs Kennedy told us what had gone down while we where all out having a vacation. On the weekend before school started Mrs Kennedy went to school to laminate some sheets for our learning but when she got to school she walked over to the classroom to see that the glass door had been cracked and it had blood on it, to Mrs Kennedy's surprise there where foot prints every where and that's when she found more clues like some chocolates that had been placed everywhere and that's when she found an eaten chocolate wrapper so before she got any closer to the scene she rung Mr Fraser and from then to now we have found multiple different clues like Mr Singh's Drivers License and a broken vase along with a spilled mug of an unidentified liquid but we are very sure that it is either tea or coffee.
My group has found out that the shoe size was actually a size 9 but we still have no proof on who it is.
Here are some pictures of what went down.

LITERACY MYSTERY(The mystery of the astronaut)

This week we have had to complete a literacy mystery.

I worked with Taylor to solve this mystery.

I think that the hardest part was clue 4 because we accidentally got it wrong on the first time and we got a tie but afterwards we got the answer and i think that we were correct.

I think that the easiest part was the last question because all we had to do was think of what words where nonsense and which words where real but I think that it was a little too obvious.

Next time I would work on the mystery alone because I think that although it was fun to do it with Taylor I would like to see if I could get the same answer.

We got Hugo Cooper who's american 18 and blonde.

Overall I think that this was a really fun task and I would do it again.

This is the picture of my working out and our answer sheet.

LETTER OF THE WEEK(M)

This week we have had to complete letter of the week like last week.
This week it the last week of the term so we've had a really random week so far and its still Monday!

I think that the hardest part was finding some pictures to decorate the slide once I was done because I like to put cartoon characters on my slide but I ended up finding Mickey mouse and Minnie mouse so at least it ended out well.

I think that the easiest part was writing the sentence with a lot of m's in it because I have a really weird brain and I thought of this sentence "Marley makes Max mash Mashed Mac'n'cheese" and I think that its super funny and cool.

I think that the best part was decorating because I get to let loose after all of that research and finding words and I think that the design really pulls together the whole look.

Next time I think I would try and make it a little less crazy and try to make it kind of match a little bit better but apart from that I wouldn't change a thing.

Overall I enjoyed doing this task and I think it was a really fun task to start the week of with.
Here is a screen shot of my slide.

CHAPTER CHAT(Head banger mix)

This week I had to complete a chapter chat task and here is what I thought.

I think that the easiest part was coming up with an Idea because everything just kind of came to me when I knew it was right and i'm really proud of my decision that I made.

I think that the hardest part was deciding how to decorate the cd and the case that I made because i kept thinking that I was going to ruin the whole "look" of it if I added the wrong thing but in the end I'm actually really happy with how it turned out and I don't think that I would change it.

Overall this was an ok yet very stressful task but I don't know if I would do it again.

Here are the pictures that I took of my chapter chat.

LETTER OF THE WEEK(G)

For this week we have had to complete our letter of the week and this week the letter was G.

I think that this was a very fun activity and I think that I would do it again but maybe with a different letter.
I think that next time I would like too try and get a little bit more creative with the looks and the words and other things that I used.
I think that the hardest part was coming up with a sentence that had a lot of G's because I kept going back and forth between making the sentence longer and then using better words but in the end I'm happy with what I got.
I think the easiest part was decorating the slide because I got to just have a little fun and kind of let loose and I thought that it was super fun and although I'm not very happy with the final product I am happy that I got to do it.

Overall this activity was super fun and I think that I would love to do it again but maybe I would take a little more time on the looks next time.
This is what I made.

TE WIKI O TE REO MAORI CHALLENGE(Phrase)

This week we have had to complete our wiki o Te reo Maori challenge.
This week is Te wiki o Te reo Maori and there fore our week has been really weird so we've had some different things to focus on.
This phrase challenge has been really fun but if I had to change something I think that it would probably bed my phrase not because I didn't like my phrase but simply because I think it would be fun to do a different phrase and I want to know how different my google drawing would have looked with a different phrase.

I think that the hardest part was deciding because I kept going between 2 different phrases but I ended up picking the phrase that I choose and I don't think its that bad.

I think that the easiest part was coming up with the "Layout/Design" that I choose to do on my google drawing and I think that it turned out pretty well and I'm really proud of how it came out and I think that it looks really nice.

Overall this task was stressful but at the same time super fun.

This is my work and the video of me saying the phrase

LITERACY MYSTERY(The missing medal)

Today me and Taylor had to complete a literacy mystery.
I think that it was really fun and I enjoyed doing but I think that it was a little harder then I thought it would be.
I think that next time I would work on it by myself because I found that it was harder to work with a buddy then I thought it would be.
I  really enjoyed this mystery as it was super fun and it even had fun questions!
Any ways the culprit that me and Taylor got was Clare White.
This is our sheet.

LITERACY MYSTERY(The missing treasure)

For this weeks we had too do a literacy mystery on the missing treasure.

I enjoyed the felling that I got every single time that I solved a clue because I knew that I was getting closer and closer to catching the culprit.

I think that the hardest part was deciding whether or not my answers where right because I kept second guessing but in the end I got it right.

Overall I think that this was an Ok activity but I prefer maths mystery's.

I got Lassie Lincoln.

Here is my sheet.

MATHS INVESTIGATION(Coordinates)

For this weeks maths investigation we did some coordinates worksheets.

I enjoyed finding the coordinates on the sheet for the emoji coordinates sheet because you got to see and emoji "Come to life" and I think that it was pretty fun!

I liked the emoji sheet more because I got to make an emoji with just some coordinates and I got a really cool emoji in the end.

I think that this was a lot of fun and I would defiantly do the coordinates again.

Here are my sheets.

OPT-IN WORKSHOPS(Rad Rhythm)

For our opt-in workshops this week we have been doing Rad Rhythm.

I have learnt a little bit more about beat and rhythm eg. different notes, how long to play them for, some of the names for those notes and last but not least I learnt how to play the bucket drums.
I enjoyed learning the notes because we learnt them as a family like big brother crotchet and Mummy Minim.

Next time I think that I would like to try and come up with a song instead of just messing around and playing with the drums but although I didn't get to make a song I did get to have a lot of fun.

I think that a fun challenge for me would be to try and remember all of the notes and there names exactly.

Overall I think that this was a super fun activity and I would 1000% do it again.

Here is a picture of me playing.

MATHS INVESTIGATIONS(Coordinates)

For this weeks maths Investigation we had to take 2 sheets and make the coordinates.
I think that the hardest part was the emoji coordinate sheet because I messed up and because of that I had to restart a new sheet.

I think that the easiest part was the pirate sheet because it had really easy questions and the coordinates where really fun to find.

I think that this was very fun and I would do it again.

These are my sheets.

COOKING GROUP(Vegetable group)

This week I joined the cooking group.

On the first day we got some sheets of some cooking rules that we had to follow to be safe in the kitchen and we went over all of those rules.

On the second day we chopped up all the vegetables that we brang and started to prepare them and when I was done I got to do a word search that had some “Cooking/Food” words.

On the third day we started the cooking process in the morning and by the middle block we got to try the soup and we got some bread on the side with it.

The part I liked the most was the taste of the soup because it tasted super nice and I think that the pumpkin flavour came through the most and it was very potent.

Overall I think that I would give the soup a 7.5/10 because although it was good I think that there was a lot of random things in the soup that made it taste kinda weird.

FAMOUS IN NZ(Valerie Adams)

For the past few weeks we have been working on some literacy rapu on a famous person from NZ.
I think that the hardest part was decorating the printed out sheet because I messed up a few times and then ended up having to change my design because of all the muck up's.
I think that the easiest part was writing it all out because I already had a planing sheet that helped me get it done quicker.
I think that this was a fun activity but I don't think that I would want to do it again.
This is a picture of my sheet.

MATHS INVESTIGATION(Clockwise turning)

For this weeks maths investigation we had to cut out some little pictures of animals and then glue them on clockwise and for the other sheet you had o glue them on anti clockwise.
I don't think that any part of it was hard and in fact it was actually quite relaxing so i made sure to take my time.
I think that the easiest part was gluing them on because all I had to do was find out which way it was clock wise and then glue it on.
I think that this was my favourite maths investigation because it was really fun and I got to do some relaxing after all of the hard maths mahi.
This was my work.

My sheet

POP ART(Butterflies)

For the past term or so we have been working on Pop Art! You had to choose what you wanted to do and I choose to do butterflies in a 4 square kind of context.
I think that that hardest part was trying to outline some of the lines with black because I was so scared that I would ruin it with the black.
I think that the easiest part was the brain storming because I knew that I wanted some sort of animal and or bug.
I think that the best part was drawing it all out on the sheet of paper because that's when i saw the picture starting to come together.
I think that this was a very fun piece of art to do because I got to use a lot of colours and I learnt about the colour wheel.
This is my piece of art that I made.

CROSS COUNTRY(Reflection)

This year I participated in the NPS Cross Country held at school on the Ngatea Domain.  I ran in the 10 year olds age group.

I am most proud of the effort that I put in because I think that I worked very hard and I am pretty proud of the place that I came.

I think my effort towards our training at school was really, really good because I tried my hardest and I got to have a lot of fun running the track.

I showed the Learning Power of Resilience by not stopping when it got really, really hard and I persevered through it and in the end I got it done and it was a really fun experience.

MATHS INVESTIGATION(What is a net)

For this weeks maths investigation we had to make 2 nets which are flat 3D shapes that can be folded to make a 3D shape.
I did the cube and the hexagonal prism and I think that they where both pretty fun.
I think that the hardest part was gluing them because I had some trouble with getting both sides glued in at the same time and I kept on accidentally breaking them by pulling to hard while gluing in the other side.
I think that the easiest part was cutting them out because that's what I'm pretty good at and all of the cuts where really easy.

Here are my shapes.

FRIDAY WHETU CHALLENGE(The Simpsons)

For this weeks Friday whetu challenge we had to choose a group of cartoon characters to make and my group chose the Simpsons although I wanted to do Peppa pig but I ended up just having to suck it up and go with it.
I did Lisa and I didn't end up finishing it because I didn't have enough time and I missed out on 10 minuets of finishing time because of hockey and I didn't know that if you hadn't finished it you could have done that instead of D.E.A.R.
I think that the hardest part was tracing it because It kept cutting of at random points for no reason so I ended up having to try and cut the head in half but I never ended up being able to get the second half of the head on which was a little bit upsetting but you win some and you lose some so I guess that I lost this round.
I think that the easiest part was nothing because It was all really, really hard and I had a lot of technical issues with it which ended up effecting it a lot.
Over all I don't think that it was the worst challenge but it wasn't my favourite and I think it was Ok.
I had some fun but not too much because I was the only girl that never finished so I think that's why I didn't have that much fun.
This is where I got with my character.

VOCABULARY(Word search)

As I said in my first blog post today Mrs Kennedy wasn't here so Mrs Fraser gave us 2 worksheets to do and this is what the 2nd sheet was about.
For this sheet we had 2 columns of questions that we had to answer with words that where also provided for us in three mini box's like the ones in the newspapers.
I think that the hardest part was matching all of the questions up with the words because some of them where really, really hard to find put and some of them had multiple words that could have fit in.
And the easiest part for me was.... to be honest nothing because it was all pretty hard but I did end up finishing it up in the end.
Anyways I still really enjoyed doing this sheet and I am glad that I got it done.
This is my sheet.

MATHS(Emoji code breaker)

Today Mrs Kennedy wasn't here so Mrs Fraser gave us some work sheets to do this it the Maths sheet.
All we had to do was solve some easy maths questions and the letters corresponded to specific numbers that had letters and you matched everything up to get the 2 sentences they where "A smile doesn't cost anything" and the second one was "Turn your frown upside down".
I think that the hardest part was finding the letters that matched up with the numbers because I had to look around for a lot of letters and I couldn't find HALF of them but I ended up finishing it all so that was really, really nice.
I think that the easiest part was the maths questions because they where simple plus's and minus's but I do have to admit that I got stuck on about 1 or 2 questions because I think that I was over working my brain.
Anyways I think that this was really fun and I would defiantly do it again if I had to.
This is my sheet.

Tuesday, 4 August 2020

MATHS INVESTIGATION(Symmetry)

For this weeks Maths investigation we had to show of our symmetry skills.
I think that the hardest part for me was defiantly the sharpie phase because I already had all of the lines and if I messed it up then that would mean that it wouldn't look correct and I did end up messing up just a little bit but it was fine because I don't think that it makes it look that different.
The easiest part for me was sketching everything out because I like to think that I'm pretty good at symmetry, I think I was half right because It looked pretty good and I think that it looks the same on both sides.
I also did an extra one the flower and I think that I did a really good job.

FRIDAY WHETU CHALLENGE(Egg Drop Challenge)

For this weeks Friday whetu challenge we had to get in to groups of three and make a contraption that would stop an egg from breaking.I worked with Tamzin and Stephanie.I think that the hardest part for me, personally would have to be coming up with an idea because A we had to try to make something that we think would keep our egg safe, and B we all had to make sure that we where happy with our design.I think that the easiest part was the construction because we had a plan that we where going to follow and along the way it was really really fun and through out the building process wed added some things as a last minuet touch to just make sure that it wouldn't break. We used, A role of tape, 2 Balloons, 1 roll of yarn, a few sheets of newspaper, A sock, scissors and a paper bag that held everything inside of it to make a little bit of a kit like thing. We ended up naming one of our balloons Timoothee Chalamat our other balloon Jeromiglia and our sock Biggie.I think that we did a very good job because our egg was the first egg that didn't crack when wed dropped it!Because of this we named our egg Sir.Not-Cracks-A-Lot but in the end we had to get rid of him along with our creation.
Over all I think that we did very well and I have to say that this challenge now takes place as my favourite Friday whetu challenge.
Here are some of the pictures with us in them with our creation.

LITERACY MYSTERY(The missing treasure)

For this week we had a literacy mystery.
I think that the hardest part for me was the last question because it was like a puzzle and you had to put -un in front of every word and if it didn't make scene then you had to try again.
I think that the easiest part was the 1st question because it was really easy to find the answer.
Here is my sheet.

THE STARS OF MATARIKI(Week 1 T3)

For this weeks literacy challenge we had to make a star out of matariki puzzle pieces. I think that the hardest part for me would have to have been coming up with ideas to put on the little star portions because there where nine of them and we had to sketch them all out ink them and then colour them.
I think that the easiest part for me would 100 be gluing them all on to the sheet because it was really really simple as you could imagine, all I had to do was cut them out and glue them on to a piece of paper.
Anyways I think that this would have to be my favourite literacy challenge that we have done so far.
Here is my star.

Thursday, 2 July 2020

WORD OF THE WEEK(Oblivious)

For this weeks word of the week the word was oblivious.
The easiest part for me was actually finding the definition because I already knew what it meant most likely because my Dad always calls me oblivious for not hearing her when he calls out my name.
I think that the hardest part was finding a picture to fit the word because there where so many different amazing pictures made by really, really talented artists but I think that my picture would have to be my favourite.
I really loved doing this word and I have to say for sure that this would be my favourite word of the week.
This is what I did.

MATHS MYSTERY(Code breaker)

For this weeks Maths Mystery Challenge we had to crack multiple codes and I think that it was pretty fun. I think that the hardest part for me would have to be the 3rd slide because although it was pretty easy I accidentally got one of the letters wrong, but I ended up noticing it at the end so I fixed it.
I think that the easiest part was the last slide because it was just + and - so I worked it all out really well, although it was easy I still thought that it was really, really fun and so where all of the other questions.
I think that this would have to be my favourite Maths Mystery because it was a little bit easier then all of the other Maths Mystery.
These are my slides.

MATARIKI(Jigsaw puzzle)

For this week we finally got to cut out all of our Jigsaw puzzle pieces and we even made some more jigsaw pieces.
I think that the hardest part for me during this whole entire jigsaw puzzle making thing for me would have to sticking them all on to the piece of paper that I was given because I kept messing up and gluing them on wonky and then I had to keep on tacking them of and gluing them back on I don't know how much I like it because It was really, really wonky and I had to stick with it because by the tie that I had realised how bad it was they where all ready stuck on to the paper.
I think that the easiest part would be cutting all of the pieces out because A it was pretty fun, and B I thought that cutting out was going to be really bed but when I ended up doing it, it turned out really, really well in my opinion.
Overall I think that this was an okay challenge but I think that I struggled a lot so that might be why I didn't enjoy it too much.
Here is what I made.

CASE CLOSED (Finishing our CSI case)

Today we solved the crime on who stole our HDMI cable and 18 milky ways! Who-We asked Mrs  Taffee to come in to class so that we could show...
